Why do people say they listen to anything but Country?
It irks me when I hear someone say "Oh I listen to anything but.." country is usualy what they say. But there is so much great Country Music- and its so diverse and a big Genre . Legends like Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Willie Nelson, and others paved the way for many Rock and Roll artists and Pop stars that followed. And- there is so many different styles of Country- its not just one thing. But most people think its just one thing. It seems like they aren't true music lovers if they dont appreciate it. Im a music lover and I love ALL MUSIC- including Country. Especially Classic Country and Western.
I think most people who say that have either never listened to it, or just never found an artist they connect with. There is more then one type of country out there, and most people just lump it all together. Me--I love the classics: Hank, Waylon, George, Merle...and i absolutely love alt-country-hank 3, joe buck, those poor bastards, j.b. beverly & the wayward drifters. However, I can't stand pop country-rascal flatts, taylor swift....I'm sure if people took the time to discover new music, they would find there is some type of country they like.
