What would be the purpose of creation?
I consider myself agnostic, and I'm not really one to debate religion vs. atheism or whatever, but there's something I've always wondered.
What would be a God's motivation for creating the Earth and human beings? I could understand if the notion was that the human race was part of some larger puzzle, that they had some larger purpose, but I've never heard that as being the case. God is supposedly all powerful.
I've heard people say that the purpose of humans on Earth is to a) find the right religious path (or else go to hell) and b) praise their God's glory. Well, if that's the case, then the God is both narcissistic and sadistic, which makes no sense. To throw small, free willed creatures onto a world full of temptation and other religious options which all basically say the same thing, join us or you're screwed.
God is creating a family. Our purpose is much like a pregnant mother who carries her child in her womb for 9 months to develop....
