which violin concerto should i play for this competition?
Theres a competition in less than a year and one string student is chosen to perform with the local symphony. Well anyways i want opinions/information on what is a good violin concerto to perform.
Difficulty is not the problem. concertoes that are at least gr.10 would be grand!
i already played
- glaznov
- bruch #1 in G (i think?)
- mendelssohn
- saraste carmen fantasy
and lol dont remember but thats what i played during the last 2 or 3 years

i was thinking of tchaikovsky or beethoven (in D major) whcih is better??
Beethoven only has one violin concerto. 
I strongly suggest leaving the Beethoven for the time being. It's not a very good piece to learn for a competition in less than one year because it takes a great deal of maturity to pull off. And that comes with only time. With the Beethoven, you have to have literally perfect intonation and bow control... it's like playing naked because the part is so exposed. Most teachers rate it on the same level as the Brahms-- the two being the Mount Everests of Violin Playing.
Tchaikovsky is a better competition piece in this case. It's just really overplayed.
Did you ever consider switching gears and doing a Mozart concerto? They show off your musicality and a good Mozart is hard to come upon.
I also recommend Vieuxtemps... perhaps No 4?
