i believe that would be Eddie Hazel.
Not quite sure when michael hampton replaced hazel on lead guitar, but i think it was after one nation.
edit: ok i looked it up. one nation under a groove was a michael hampton album, uncle jam wants you was an eddie hazel album.
yet another edit: catfish is incredible, but he was with either the J.B.s (or the horny horns as they might have been calling themselves) or Bootsy's rubber band at the time, although he was in parliment a little later, i think he joined in 78.
