How much is a Wings (Paul McCartney) vinyl "Goodnight Tonight" worth?
From what I've seen the vinyl is rare. It was released as a "disco single", as stated on the label, number 23-10940 on Columbia. I have found little information on it and was just wondering how much it is worth.
It depends.
1. Quality. Vinyl has to be in VERY good shape to be worth anything. Not your opinion, either, there are guidelines published in record collectors books that defines the terms (e.g., "M-" [mint minus], "VG+" [very good plus]).
2. Original sleeve. Most of McCartney's stuff back then had picture sleeves, and "Goodnight Tonight" was no exception. Do you have the picture sleeve, or a "Columbia" sleeve, or just a plain white sleeve? The answer raises or lowers the price.
3. As for the sleeve, there are also guidelines for the condition of it. If the record's in good shape but someone used Linda's face for a beverage coaster, then the value is significantly diminished.
4. Finally, an audience for it. McCartney's stuff is easily available on CD, so that would keep it from being as valuable. Also the B-side ("Daytime Nighttime Suffering") is also available on CD, so it isn't as though there's a rare track, or even a rare mix, of the song.
