Need Help with which songs to memorize?
I am trying out for NJPAC and i need to memorize two songs {Sugar and Ladybird}. The book that i purchased {Killer Joe Vol.70} has both concert key songs and Bb instrument songs. Which ones do I memorize? My band teacher gave us Killer Joe for jazz band and when I compared the trumpet part to the book it was in the concert key not the Bb key. I'm confused on which ones to memorize. Help!
For Bb instruments like the trumpet and tenor sax, you need to transpose concert key up one full step or a Major 2nd. So if the concert key is C, you play in D; for concert Bb, you play in C.
