What do you think is best out of Reason, Protools, Cubase or Logic?

I want to learn as much about these programs on the Internet as possible before buying one (or more). It's just deciding which one to start with and what's best.

Also is it possible to download the manuals online?

I was interested in composing, mixing and mastering electronic music in my early 20's, but I wasn't in the mature or financial position back then. I'm 32 now and a lot wiser. What I've learned is to learn from manuals online before buying software/hardware and buying most hardware near new (Korg, Roland etc) second hand.

I have never used Reason so personally I have no comment on it. But I have used Protools, Cubase and Logic.

The biggest difference between these softwares is, you need an interface to run Protools like Mbox, 00* rack... etc. Logic and Cubase can run on the system you have without buying external devices. Logic needs an Apple Macintosh computer while Reason, Protools, Cubase support both Mac and Windows.

All these are top rated softwares all over the world. But here in Japan Protools and Logic Pro are widely used among the professionals.

Learning manuals online won't let you know to decide what to buy. It only describes what they have in their softwares. The best thing you have to do is try it. Download a trial or demo version. Here's the links...

Protools need an interface to run on a system, and you will get the software with it. So downloading demo or trial versions won't work you through out. About the interfaces that works with Protools...
