Why have schools stopped requiring American students to write in cursive?
Back when I was in 3rd grade, teachers have required that students write in cursive. I remember my 6th grade teacher telling me that it was an American tradition, and that high schools and colleges require that all hand-written work must be done in cursive.
But I noticed when I was in junior high, teachers didn't care if students wrote in cursive or not (they always printed when writing on the boards). And now, being a high school senior, I noticed most students younger than me don't even read or write in cursive anymore. In fact, signatures are starting to look more and more like graffiti.
I personally think cursive looks prettier and is easier to write. Any idea why the cursive script is dying out?
I agree that cursive writing looks better...but this is the digital age. People just type everything up now...and when theyre not typing theyre probably to use to see times new roman or veranda that they just write the way they type..
